How do you turn a Google Ads task into a repeatable workflow?
To make a Google Ads task repeatable in ChatGPT, save its account ID, input report, date rule, expected output, and approval boundary. Run it once, check the evidence, then test the same instructions in the scheduled environment. Treat missing access or stale data as a failed run.
This guide starts with a task you have chosen and explains how to run it consistently. For task ideas, read what ChatGPT can do for Google Ads. For choosing between platform automation, scripts, and an assistant, use the AI Google Ads management comparison.
LoomaScale is our product and the connector used in the examples. The prompts below are workflow templates, not measured performance results.
1. How do you verify the account before the first run?
Complete the ChatGPT Google Ads connection steps first. Once connected, establish which account and reporting settings the workflow will use:
Use LoomaScale to list the Google Ads accounts I can access. For the account I select, show its customer ID, currency, time zone, and active campaigns. Then retrieve spend and conversions for the last 7 complete days, with explicit start and end dates. Use read tools only. If a field is unavailable, say so rather than estimating it.
Compare the result with Google Ads using the same dates and conversion columns. For a manager account, confirm the client customer ID. An account name alone can be ambiguous.
2. What belongs in a reusable Google Ads automation brief?
Write the task once so that each execution uses the same scope and decision rules. Give the brief a name and version; update that version when its inputs or permissions change.
| Field | What to specify |
|---|---|
| Account and scope | Customer ID and the campaigns included |
| Inputs | Required reports, conversion action, currency, and business facts |
| Date rule | A rolling window of complete days in the account time zone |
| Output | Fixed columns, supporting evidence, and when to flag an exception |
| Permissions | Read-only analysis first; separately approved edits |
| Failure behavior | Report missing access or data, then stop |
Use this template around the task you already selected:
Workflow: [NAME AND VERSION]. Use LoomaScale for Google Ads customer [CUSTOMER_ID]. Task: [ONE DEFINED CHECK]. Required inputs: [REPORTS, FIELDS, AND BUSINESS CONTEXT]. Date rule: [ROLLING WINDOW OF COMPLETE DAYS IN ACCOUNT TIME ZONE]. Output columns: [FIXED COLUMNS]. Flag a finding only when: [REVIEW CONDITIONS]. Retrieve current data for this run. State the customer ID, exact dates, retrieval time, and any missing fields. Distinguish an empty result from a failed retrieval. If a required input is missing, stop and report what is unavailable. Use read tools only. Return the evidence and proposed next steps without changing the account.
Replace every placeholder. For a weekly report, take the checks from the weekly Google Ads review. For exclusions, use the criteria in the negative keyword guide. For a build, use the brief in the campaign creation walkthrough.
Test the brief against one known result in Google Ads. Then check a failure case: if the required report or field is unavailable, the response should identify that gap instead of presenting a completed analysis. Keep the verified brief with its run results so a later edit does not silently change what the automation means.
3. How do you apply changes and confirm they worked?
Separate the proposal from the instruction to edit. Name the exact objects and values you approve. For a campaign build, review the paused campaign before requesting activation.
Apply only these approved changes: [EXACT CHANGES AND OBJECT IDS]. First re-read the affected settings. If the account or current values differ from the proposal, stop and show the difference. After applying, retrieve the affected objects again and report: customer ID, object ID, previous value, requested value, observed value, and any error. If a write has an unclear result, inspect the current state before retrying. Do not make additional changes.
Check that the account now matches the request. An assistant saying “done” is not enough evidence. Preserve the before-and-after record so you can investigate or reverse a change where the platform supports it.
Keep two outcomes separate: the edit succeeded and performance improved. Verify the first immediately. Assess the second over a suitable measurement window, with conversion delay and other account changes in mind.
4. Can you schedule Google Ads automation in ChatGPT?
OpenAI's scheduled-task walkthrough describes testing work in a chat before scheduling it. That does not establish that every connector is available in every scheduled environment. Verify LoomaScale access in your own setup.
Start with a read-only check and a single test run. In a supported setup, adapt this request:
Schedule the read-only Google Ads check we just verified for [DAY AND TIME, TIME ZONE]. Use LoomaScale and customer [CUSTOMER_ID]. On each run, retrieve fresh data and report the customer ID, date range, and retrieval time. Flag [SPECIFIC CONDITIONS]. Do not edit campaigns or budgets. If the connection or required data is unavailable, report that failure instead of reusing an earlier answer.
Inspect the actual scheduled result. Did it access the right account? Did the dates advance? Did it retrieve new data? A saved schedule or a reminder to check the account does not demonstrate a completed report.
If the scheduled environment cannot use the connection, keep the workflow on demand with a reminder, or implement the recurring task using a tested script or API integration. Do not describe it as unattended automation until the execution path works.
What should you check when the automation fails?
| Symptom | What to check next |
|---|---|
| Generic advice instead of account numbers | Whether the conversation used LoomaScale and selected the intended account |
| Report totals differ from Google Ads | Customer ID, complete date range, time zone, conversion columns, and filters |
| Reading works but an edit fails | Granted write permissions, supported action, and the exact tool error |
| A scheduled answer repeats old figures | Whether that run retrieved fresh data or only reused conversation context |
| A retry creates duplicate objects | Whether the first write succeeded before sending another create request |
Start with one workflow and a visible result. Connect ChatGPT to Google Ads, run the account check, and automate the task you already repeat most often. The prompt library provides more task templates once that first workflow is dependable.
